process\u2014both in primary metallurgy (BOF) and in secondary metallurgy. The latter requires refractory scrap with a defined chemical composition, high bulk density (\u2265 2 t\/m\u00b3), and a large surface area\u2014ideally in spherical form.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Cooling scrap is typically produced from production scrap with a known chemical composition. With the <a href=\"https:\/\/sicontechnology.com\/en\/ecoshred-vertec\/\">EcoShred\u00ae Vertec<\/a>, SICON offers a vertical shredder specifically designed for this application, which produces cooling scrap of ideal quality for steel mills.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>The feed material is gradually spheroidized across four grinding levels. The geometry of the stator and rotor components is individually adapted to the respective feed material. Optimal design can be achieved with the help of simulations and test facilities. SICON naturally also handles the appropriate material feed and the downstream process\u2014including dust removal. Here, too, individual adaptation to customer-specific requirements and the desired end product takes place.<\/p><p>For steel mills, the homogeneity and flowability of cooling scrap are of central importance.
